About EMDR

What is EMDR?

  • EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Re-processing. It is an evidence-based psychotherapy treatment for trauma that works to lessen the intensity of PTSD symptoms by targeting and reducing the impact of traumatic experiences and memories that you haven’t yet been able to recover from.

  • EMDR is a safe, evidence-based, highly effective form of therapy for processing traumatic incidents in a way that is minimally triggering for the participant. It is endorsed by the World Health Organisation as an evidence-based treatment for PTSD.

  • Please watch this short Youtube clip which explains how eye movements are used in session to reduce the distress and emotional charge associated with traumatic events.
